Deciding between the Bloomchasers base game and the Birds & Bees expansion? We break down what each offers and who should buy which.
Quick answer
If you are new to Bloomchasers and want a complete, replayable competitive game, start with the base game. If you already own the base and crave deeper strategy, higher scores, and more components, add the Birds & Bees expansion.
What the base game delivers
The Bloomchasers base game is a complete competitive experience. It includes everything you need for a fun, strategic game night with enough replayability to keep your group coming back. You get a full set of cards, branches, flowers, and buds to build your tree and outscore opponents.
What the expansion adds
The Birds & Bees Expansion Pack is designed for players who want more. It adds a new deck, beehive branches, birds, and extra branches, flowers, and buds. The expansion introduces new strategic mischief and ways to grow a bigger tree, making it ideal for groups that have mastered the base game.
Price and value trade-off
The base game is priced at USD 41.60 (catalog comparison USD 60.29), offering a full game at a reasonable cost. The expansion costs USD 15.91 (catalog comparison USD 24.11). If you are on a budget, the base game alone provides plenty of fun. The expansion is a low-cost way to refresh the experience for veteran players.
Decision rules
- New to Bloomchasers?: Buy the base game first. It is a complete, replayable experience that will give you hours of fun. You can always add the expansion later.
- Already own the base game and want more?: Get the Birds & Bees Expansion. It adds new components and strategic options that deepen the game without changing the core rules.
- Budget-conscious?: Stick with the base game. It offers excellent value at USD 41.60. The expansion is a nice upgrade but not essential for a great experience.
- Gift for a game group?: If the group already has the base game, the expansion makes a thoughtful, affordable gift. If not, the base game is the better choice.
